What is Diamonds at DiceCity?
Diamonds is an instant gem-matching game from the DiceCity Originals. You place a bet and five gems drop onto the board. Each gem is one of seven colours. The more gems share a colour, the more the round pays, ranked like a poker hand: a pair, two pair, three of a kind, a full house, four of a kind or, rarely, all five the same.
There is nothing to choose except your stake, which makes Diamonds one of the simplest games in the city. Each gem's colour is drawn on its own, and every one of the seven colours is equally likely for every gem. The pay table sits next to the board, so you can see what each hand is worth before you bet.
DiceCity is invite only and for adults 18 and over. Open the invite link a citizen sent you, or sign in, to play on this page.
How do you play Diamonds?
- Enter your stake in Bet amount. The smallest bet is worth $0.10, and ½ and 2× halve or double it.
- Look over the pay table to see what each hand pays.
- Press Bet, or press Space.
- Five gems drop onto the board, one colour each.
- The game groups the colours into the best hand they make and highlights it in the pay table.
- You are paid your stake times that hand's multiplier. With no match at all, the stake is lost.
What are the odds and payouts?
There are 16,807 equally likely ways for five gems to fall. Counting them gives each hand's exact chance:
| Hand | Pays | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Five of a kind | 50× | 0.04% |
| Four of a kind | 5.5× | 1.25% |
| Full house | 4× | 2.50% |
| Three of a kind | 3× | 12.49% |
| Two pair | 2× | 18.74% |
| Pair | 0.1× | 49.98% |
| No match | 0× | 14.99% |
Notice the pair. It is the most common result, about half of all rounds, but it pays back only a tenth of the stake. So although roughly 85% of rounds pay something, only about a third pay more than the stake.
Adding up every hand's chance times its pay gives a return of 98.91% over time, a house edge of 1.09%. That is an average over a very large number of rounds, not a promise for any session.
Any single bet pays at most $10,000. In real-money play a Max bet note under the bet field shows the limit for the game.
Is Diamonds fair?
Yes. The gems come from DiceCity's provably fair seeds:
- Server seed hash. Before you bet, the game shows the SHA-256 hash of a secret server seed. It commits to the seed ahead of the round.
- Your client seed. Your half of the input. Change it to any text up to 64 characters.
- The nonce. The round's number on your seed pair, counting from 0.
- How the gems are chosen. HMAC-SHA256 of the server seed with your client seed and nonce gives five numbers. Each is scaled to one of the seven colours, one number per gem.
- Checking after you rotate. Rotate the seed pair to reveal the old server seed and begin a new pair at nonce 0. Hash the revealed seed, compare it with the hash you were shown, then select it under Previous seeds and replay any round in the Verify tab.
Diamonds uses the same seed pair as Dice, Keno and most other DiceCity Originals, so one rotation covers them together. Plinko keeps a pair of its own.
What settings can you change?
- Bet amount. With ½ and 2× to adjust it.
- Manual or Auto. One round per press, or a series.
- Number of bets. How many rounds Auto plays; 0 keeps going until you stop.
- On win and On loss. Reset the bet, or increase it by a percentage.
- Stop on profit and Stop on loss. Auto stops when your net result reaches either.
- Sound and Fairness. The speaker button, and the key button for seeds and Verify.
- Page controls. Favourites (S), Live stats, Theatre mode (T) on wider screens and Full screen (F).
Tips for playing responsibly
- Set a budget before you start. DiceCity's responsible gambling page has a budget calculator.
- Count a pair as a small loss, not a win. It returns 0.1× of the stake.
- Diamonds plays very fast, especially on Auto, so set Stop on loss before a run.
- Raising the bet after a loss does not change the odds of the next five gems.
- Five of a kind comes up about 4 times in 10,000 rounds. Do not chase it.
- Use Live stats to see where your session stands, and take breaks.
