What is Limbo at DiceCity?

Limbo is a one-number game from the DiceCity Originals, run on DiceCity's own game server. You choose a target multiplier, the game draws a result multiplier, and you win if the result reaches your target. A win pays exactly the target, no more and no less.

The appeal is the range. A target of 1.01× wins most of the time and pays almost nothing extra. A target of 1,000× wins rarely and pays a thousand times the stake. Every target in between follows one simple rule, so you always know your chance before you bet. Each round is over in an instant, which makes Limbo quick to learn and easy to check.

DiceCity is invite only and for adults 18 and over. Open the invite link a citizen sent you, or sign in, and the game opens here.

How do you play Limbo?

  1. Enter your stake in Bet amount. The smallest bet is worth $0.10, and ½ and 2× halve or double it.
  2. Type a Target multiplier from 1.01× to 1,000,000×, or type a Win chance instead. The other field follows.
  3. Check Profit on win to see what a win would add to your stake.
  4. Press Bet, or press Space.
  5. The result appears at once. If it is equal to or above your target, you are paid your stake times the target. If it is below, the stake is lost.
  6. Your recent results stay on screen so you can see how the round went.

What are the odds and payouts?

The win chance is 99% divided by the target, and a win pays the target.

TargetWin chance
1.01×98.02%
1.5×66%
2×49.5%
3×33%
10×9.9%
100×0.99%
1,000×0.099%
1,000,000×0.000099%

The result is drawn between 1.00× and 1,000,000×. Because the chance is always 99% over the target, every target returns 99% over time, a house edge of 1%. That is the average over a very large number of rounds, not what any single session will look like.

Any one bet pays at most $10,000, so high targets limit how big a stake can be. In real-money play a Max bet note under the bet field shows the largest stake that cap allows for the target you chose.

Is Limbo fair?

Yes. Limbo uses DiceCity's provably fair seeds, and every result can be rebuilt from them:

  • Server seed hash. The game keeps a secret server seed and shows its SHA-256 hash before you bet. That hash commits the house to the seed in advance.
  • Your client seed. Your own input. It starts as a random value, and you can change it to any text up to 64 characters in the Fairness panel.
  • The nonce. A counter that goes up by one with each bet on the pair, starting at 0.
  • How the result is made. HMAC-SHA256 of the server seed with your client seed and nonce gives a number. That number is turned into a result multiplier, rounded down to two decimals.
  • Checking after you rotate. Rotating the seed pair reveals the old server seed and starts a fresh pair at nonce 0. Hash the revealed seed, compare it with the hash shown earlier, then pick it under Previous seeds and replay any result in the Verify tab.

Limbo uses the same seed pair as Dice, Keno and most other DiceCity Originals, so one rotation covers them together. Plinko keeps a pair of its own.

What settings can you change?

  • Manual or Auto. Manual plays one round per press. Auto plays a series.
  • Number of bets. How many rounds Auto plays; 0 means until you stop it.
  • On win and On loss. Go back to the starting bet, or increase it by a set percentage.
  • Stop on profit and Stop on loss. Auto ends once your net result hits either limit.
  • Target multiplier and Win chance. Two linked fields; set one and the other updates.
  • Sound. Mute or unmute with the speaker button.
  • Fairness panel. Seeds, client seed, Rotate seed pair and the Verify tab, behind the key button.
  • Page controls. Favourites (S), Live stats, Theatre mode (T) on wider screens and Full screen (F).

Tips for playing responsibly

  • Choose your spending limit before you start and stick to it. The budget calculator on DiceCity's responsible gambling page can help.
  • Long-shot targets lose most of the time. A 100× target misses about 99 rounds in 100 on average.
  • In Auto, set Stop on loss before you press start.
  • Increasing the bet after a loss does not improve the next round's chance. It only raises what you can lose.
  • Use Live stats to keep an eye on your profit and total wagered.
  • Step away for a while if you notice you are chasing a result.
