What is Rock Paper Scissors at DiceCity?
Rock Paper Scissors is a head-to-head game against the house from the DiceCity Originals. You bet, then throw rock, paper or scissors. Every win nearly doubles your multiplier. A draw changes nothing and you simply throw again. A loss ends the round and the stake is lost. You can cash out after any win, and the twentieth win cashes out for you.
The rules are the ones everyone knows: rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock. Because draws are replayed, every throw that counts is a straight 50/50 between you and the house. The house's throws are fixed before the round starts and hidden until you play, so there is no pattern to read or exploit.
DiceCity is invite only and for adults 18 and over. Use the invite link a citizen sent you, or sign in, to play on this page.
How do you play Rock Paper Scissors?
- Enter your stake in Bet amount. The smallest bet is worth $0.10.
- Press Bet, or press Space, to start a round.
- Throw rock, paper or scissors, or Random. On a keyboard, R, P and S (or 1, 2 and 3) throw.
- Win and your multiplier rises. Draw and you throw again with nothing changed.
- Press Cashout, or Space, after any win to take your stake times the multiplier.
- A loss ends the round. Twenty wins cash out automatically.
What are the odds and payouts?
After k wins the multiplier is 0.99 × 2 to the power k, trimmed by one part in ten million and rounded down. Draws do not count towards k.
| Wins | Pays | Chance of getting there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.9799× | 50% |
| 2 | 3.9599× | 25% |
| 3 | 7.9199× | 12.5% |
| 5 | 31.6799× | 3.125% |
| 10 | 1,013.7598× | about 0.098% |
| 20 | 1,038,090.1361× | 1 in 1,048,576 |
The chances count decided throws only, since a draw is simply thrown again. With every decided throw at even odds, every point you can cash out at returns just under 99% over time. That is a long-run average, not a forecast for a few rounds.
A round has 64 house throws ready. In the rare case that they are used up, the round cashes out at its current multiplier, or refunds the stake if every throw was a draw.
Any single bet pays at most $10,000. In real-money play a note under the bet field shows the multiplier at which wins stop for your stake.
Is Rock Paper Scissors fair?
Yes. The house's throws come from DiceCity's provably fair seeds and are set when you bet:
- Server seed hash. Before the round, you see the SHA-256 hash of a secret server seed. All 64 house throws follow from it, so they cannot change once you start.
- Your client seed. Your own input. Change it to any text up to 64 characters between rounds.
- The nonce. Your bet's number on the seed pair, counting from 0.
- How the house throws. HMAC-SHA256 of the server seed with your client seed and nonce gives 64 numbers. Each is scaled to rock, paper or scissors, one per house throw, in order.
- Checking after you rotate. Rotate the seed pair to reveal the old server seed and start a new pair at nonce 0. Rotation waits until your round has ended. Hash the revealed seed, compare it with the hash you saw, and check every throw in the Verify tab.
Rock Paper Scissors uses the same seed pair as Flip, HiLo and most other DiceCity Originals, so one rotation covers them together. Plinko keeps a pair of its own.
What settings can you change?

Tips for playing responsibly
- Decide how many wins you will play for before the round starts.
- Set your budget first. DiceCity's responsible gambling page has a budget calculator.
- There is no pattern to beat. The house's throws are drawn at random, so no hand is safer than another.
- In Auto, add a Stop on loss.
- A bigger stake after a loss does not make the next throw easier.
- Glance at Live stats now and then, and stop when it stops being fun.
