What is Crash at DiceCity?
Crash is a shared-round game from the DiceCity Originals. Everyone at the table plays the same round. While a countdown runs, players place their bets. Then a multiplier starts at 1.00× and climbs. Cash out before it crashes and you win your bet times the multiplier at that moment. If you are still in when it crashes, the bet is lost.
The multiplier rises slowly at first and then faster: it passes 2× after about 11.6 seconds and 10× after about 38.4 seconds. Every round's crash point was fixed long before the round began, as part of a published chain, so nobody can steer it while it climbs. You can cash out by hand, or set a target and let the game cash out for you the instant the round reaches it.
DiceCity is invite only and for adults 18 and over. Open the invite link a citizen sent you, or sign in, to join the round on this page.
How do you play Crash?
- Enter your stake in Bet amount. The smallest bet is worth $0.10, and ½ and 2× halve or double it.
- Optionally set Cashout at, from 1.01× to 1,000,000×. Leave it off to cash out yourself.
- Press Bet while the countdown runs, or press Space. A bet placed during a running round goes into the next one, and you can cancel it before that round starts.
- Watch the multiplier climb. The Players list shows who is in and who has cashed out.
- Press Cashout, or Space, to lock in your win. A Cashout at target does it for you.
- If the round crashes first, the bet is lost.
What are the odds and payouts?
The chance that a round reaches a multiplier m is 99% divided by m:
| Cash-out target | Chance the round gets there |
|---|---|
| 1.01× | 98.02% |
| 1.5× | 66% |
| 2× | 49.5% |
| 3× | 33% |
| 5× | 19.8% |
| 10× | 9.9% |
| 100× | 0.99% |
| 1,000× | 0.099% |
About one round in 50 (1.98%) crashes at 1.00×, before anyone can cash out. Because the chance of reaching any target is 0.99 divided by it, every target returns 99% over time, a house edge of 1%. That is a long-run average across a great many rounds; a short session can look very different.
Any single bet pays at most $10,000. In real-money play a note under the bet field shows the multiplier at which wins stop for your stake.
Is Crash fair?
Yes, but Crash proves it differently from most Originals. Since everyone shares one round, the result cannot come from your personal seeds. It comes from a hash chain instead:
- The commitment. Before the first round of a chain, the game publishes hash 0, the commitment. It is a fingerprint of every round the chain will play.
- One hash per round. Each round uses the next hash in the chain. After a round crashes, its hash is revealed, and its SHA-256 is the previous round's hash. So every revealed hash proves the ones before it, all the way back to the commitment.
- The crash point. It is worked out from HMAC-SHA256 of the round's hash with the chain's salt, which the panel also shows.
- Checking a round. Open Fairness and verification. The Chain tab lists the commitment, the salt and recent rounds; select any crashed round to verify its crash point and the link to the round before it.
Your personal seed pair is not used for a Crash result. A Crash bet still uses up a nonce, but the round's outcome comes only from the chain.
What settings can you change?
- Bet amount. With ½ and 2×.
- Cashout at. An automatic cash-out target from 1.01× to 1,000,000×, or off.
- Manual or Auto. One bet, or a bet in every round.
- Number of bets. How many rounds Auto plays; 0 keeps going until you stop.
- On win and On loss. Reset the bet, or raise it by a percentage.
- Stop on profit and Stop on loss. Auto stops at either result. Auto needs a Cashout at target.
- Sound and Fairness. The speaker button, and Fairness and verification for the chain.
- Page controls. Favourites (S), Live stats, Theatre mode (T) on wider screens and Full screen (F).
Tips for playing responsibly
- Set a Cashout at target before the round starts, so the decision is made with a clear head.
- Decide your budget first. DiceCity's responsible gambling page has a budget calculator.
- Rounds come one after another, so a session can go on longer than you meant. Take breaks.
- In Auto, add a Stop on loss.
- A run of low crashes says nothing about the next round. Raising the bet after one only adds risk.
- Keep Live stats open to see your session at a glance.
